Resilience in difficult times

Most people do not like continual changes or uncertainty. This is exacerbated when we feel a sense of threat to ourselves, or the people we care about. We establish patterns and habits in order to create some certainty about what is to happen in our lives.

When faced with uncertainty, we ask ourselves, Will I be OK? and Will those I love be OK? Not knowing the answer is what upsets our equilibrium. As a result, the rapidly changing events around us can create anxiety.

However, there are a few simple things we can do to employ and build our resilience, and the resilience of the people we support. This resource aims to support carers during times of challenge or change, by helping to identify skills and resources. We serve others best by also caring for ourselves.

It should take approximately 15 minutes to complete this module.
